These ten cards are designed to trigger your memories of the circumstances in which a projected personality came to the end of an apparent incarnation. Know that, through these emanations, you experience them all, not once but many times, in the long course of your personal history, past and future. At one time, it was believed that physical evolution proceeded at a slow but steady pace, a theory known as uniformitarianism. In this view, the passage of immensely long periods of time is sufficient to explain all changes. Catastrophes either never happen or need not be allowed for.
Nevertheless, it is a fact that organic life on Earth has been all but totally destroyed on at least five occasions in the planet’s prehistory. There is reason to believe that the causes of such vast destruction, as with the interstadial event that effectively wiped out the dinosaurs and ended the Mesozoic Era, some sixty-five million years ago, or the terrible event that ended the Pleistocene Epoch, were collisions with the Earth by a Near Earth Object such as a comet or an asteroid, or by the near-passage of a massive body that generated immense tidal surges.
History is full of catastrophic events, recorded and unrecorded, as well as countless wars, raids for plunder, rapes and murders. For long periods, incarnate human life was indeed largely “nasty, brutish and short.” Famines and plagues, as well as savage predators, like bears, wolves, lions, crocodiles and sharks, have carried off countless people. For century after century, it was only relatively rarely that one died in peace, carefree and surrounded by one’s loved ones.
The Termination cards reflect these various outcomes.
Studying these cards from the impersonal view of an uninvolved observer, one comes gradually to perceive the ephemerality of apparent existence in a physical body. One learns that one is indeed far, far more than the physical body and more even than any of one’s projected superficial personalities; that death is only a change of one incarnational scene to another on the stage of beginningless and endless, timeless consciousness.
